Ventilator

His oxygen did not improve even when on the NIV machine, and one day it fell to 47%. We were shell-shocked to see this and became very afraid now. He was moved into an ICU, intubated and put on ventilator on 12th May. We breathed a sign of relief as you know how difficult it is to get an ventilator ICU bed.

We expected that he should now recover from COVID in a week or so, and we can again go back to doing normal things.

Little did we know that the wretched Virus had spread everywhere and affected lungs badly. He was started on steroids for controlling the infection, and the Virus started to decrease. But a side effect of steroid treatment is that it causes vulnerability to other pathogens. He contacted Klebseila Pneumonae, a drug resistant bacteria which causes a severe version of pneumonia.

Doctors told that he now has extensive lung damage.
